Welcome to the official homepage of Civil Air Patrol’s Mount Vernon Composite Squadron. Our squadron is one of five in the National Capital Wing. We are designated a composite squadron because we have both cadets and volunteer officers (senior members).
Currently, we have more than 80 active cadets and officers. Officers make up about a half of the squadron. Many are pilots or mission specialists supporting CAP search and rescue operations and special missions for the U.S. Air Force.
Cadet programs offer a range of opportunities for young men and women. Foundational to the experience is an emphasis on character, leadership, and aerospace education. Cadets receive instruction about Air Force style drill, customs and courtesies and have weekend activities that involve rocketry, emergency services training, and orientation flights in CAP aircraft.
Our squadron commander is 1st Lt. Kevin Geiss. To email the commander click here.
Our cadets are led by Lt. Col. Jonathan Fry. To email Lt. Col. Fry click here.
Our meetings are held at Davison Army Airfield, Va. For directions click here.
Volunteer officers meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 7pm.
Cadets meet every Thursday evening at 7pm.
